You know what? People assuming that I adore anime because I'm Japanese and then looking at me funny because I don't is okay. I've gotten used to that. It's nothing new any more.

But here's something that is new. Today after class, as I was unlocking my bike to go back to my apartment, I was approached by a girl. No, that's not what's new. :p

What was new was that the girl sort of stampeded toward me, squawking "Kong ni chiwa!" like a fucking parrot on the way. Before I even had a chance to speak, she told me her name and the fact that she was a Japanese language major (boy, does she have her work cut out for her 9_9) in what was possibly the worst sincere attempt at Japanese that I had ever heard. She had to repeat herself FIVE TIMES before I understood what she was trying to get across.

Of course, I figured she was just excited at seeing a full Japanese person (Although I don't know how she found out; she couldn't have heard my phone conversation unless she was trying. Maybe she was...), so I thought I'd be nice and play along. Boy oh boy, that was a mistake.

This is where the amazing part is. So I'm playing along with her, throwing around some fairly simple phrases that I thought she would understand. She then proceeded to CORRECT MY JAPANESE as I spoke. She was taking my pronunciation and intonation and fixing it into HER way of speaking (which was fucking terrible, mind you), telling me that I was wrong.

This bitch, who couldn't speak Japanese for the life of her, was LECTURING ME on how to speak MY OWN LANGUAGE.

I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe that people could be this blunt, rude, and stupid.

Eventually, I told her to fuck off in Japanese (「どっか行け、うぜえんだよ」). Apparently she didn't get this, because she DEMANDED MY PHONE NUMBER as I was trying to leave!

I just ignored her and biked away in a hurry.
